Compassionate and creative counselling for children, young people and adults

Based in Ivybridge, South Devon

Are you or your child feeling anxious or confused?

I am very aware of the many challenges in growing up faced by children and young people today and the lack of NHS support available for their mental health.

I work creatively in helping children and young people to explore their difficulties and develop resilience, confidence, self-awareness and new coping strategies, whatever challenges they are experiencing.

I am also fully qualified to support adults of all ages.

Fran McLoughlin

Let me introduce myself: I'm a qualified integrative counsellor so will draw on the right skills and strategies for each client, including talking therapy, person centred skills, CBT, mindfulness, transactional analysis and creative and play techniques.

I believe in the power of nature so also offer walk and talk/outdoor counselling in the local area for those who prefer to be outdoors (usually 16 years and older).

What can my child expect from counselling?

This will be different depending on the presenting issues, child/young person's age and the way your child likes to engage. It may include creative ways of working such as playdough, drawing or sand tray rather than just talking and will generally work at a pace they are ready for.

I aim for it to be a safe place for a child to show or tell what is troubling them, explore how they can deal with this and to build up a resilience 'toolkit' for any future difficulties.

Seeking counselling is not a sign that as a parent you have failed, more that you love them and want to help them through a tricky time.
